Dear Friends,

My name is Moise Bisimwa but they call me Moses. I am the founder of Relief Canada Foundation. Our journey began not with grand plans, but with a simple, painful realization: people in our communities—especially children—are going to bed hungry.

This reality hit home when my brother’s friend came over for a sleepover. During our conversations, I discovered that he wasn't getting enough to eat each day. He lives with his single mother, who struggles to make ends meet. That night, something changed in me. I couldn't shake the thought. I started writing, researching, and reflecting deeply, realizing how many families across Canada live in similar circumstances.

According to the Canadian Income Survey (2022):

22.6% of individuals in single-parent families were living below the poverty line.
This includes 23.8% in female-led and 17.6% in male-led single-parent households.

The problem doesn't end there. Canada’s homelessness crisis is growing:

In 2023, an estimated 85,669–86,453 people experienced transitional homelessness.
Of 118,329 shelter users, about 27.6% (32,660) were chronically homeless.

These numbers are heartbreaking. Behind each one is a human being—a child, a parent, a neighbor—facing daily battles that most of us can't imagine.

Our Mission

Relief Canada Foundation was born out of the belief that everyone deserves dignity, support, and a chance to thrive. We focus on two key vulnerable groups in Canada:

Low-Income Single-Parent Families

Nutritional food support for 3–6 months.
Financial assistance to help stabilize their situation.
Emotional and mental health resources.
Long-term empowerment plans.

People Experiencing Homelessness

Funding for skill-building programs (e.g., carpentry, barbering).
Assistance with healthcare needs until they regain stability.
Support for job placement and reintegration into society.

How We Fund This Mission

We are proud to partner with a group of young artists in the Democratic Republic of Congo, led by a talented blind artist. These children create stunning hand-crafted pens, which are shipped to Canada and sold to support our cause.

Here’s how the funds are distributed:

25% goes to support the youth artists and their families in Congo.
70% directly supports our relief programs in Canada.
5% sustains the ongoing operations of our foundation.

We believe in transparency, community-driven change, and international solidarity. This initiative connects children from one part of the world with vulnerable individuals in another—building bridges of hope, creativity, and compassion.
